REGION 2 NEWS Pittsburgh, Lehigh Valley selected as outstanding Sections for 2015 The Pittsburgh Section and the Lehigh Valley Section have been singled out for honors as the year’s best Sections in their size categories for their achievements. Pittsburgh is the winner of the 2015 Outstanding Section and Branch Award for large Sections, while Lehigh Valley is the winner of the 2015 Outstanding Section and Branch Web Site Award for small Sections. Pittsburgh also received an ASCE Diversity Award Honorable Mention. The awards were given at the 2015 Multi-Region Leadership Conference for Regions 1, 2, 4 and 5, held in Miami. PHILADELPHIA SECTION Drexel professor elected ASCE Fellow Robert F. Brehm, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE, an associate teaching professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at Drexel University, has been elevated to Fellow status by ASCE’s Board of Direction. A Life Member of ASCE, Brehm has been associated with more than $1 billion in projects , including civic centers, correctional institutions, educational facilities, entertainment venues, and government and commercial projects spanning more than 35 years of construction activity. Brehm has served as a surety consultant developing turnaround strategies for trouble projects and has authored several articles on claims avoidance and project scheduling while providing expert testimony on construction practices in both federal and state courts. NATIONAL CAPITAL SECTION First phase of seismic repair concludes at National Cathedral Since a 2011 earthquake caused an estimated $32 million in damage, the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., has been at work on repairs.
