March 2015

Great outreach event or other activity? Let the whole Region know!

If you’re a local ASCE leader and your Section, Branch, Younger Member Group, or Student Chapter has staged any special events, engaged in outreach from grade-school kids to lawmakers, done charity work, fund raising or anything of the sort, let ASCEnews Weekly know and we may include it in next month’s Region report. You may already have written about it and posted pictures in your newsletter, website, or social media. Share the details and any photos at asce.org/localnews. Got questions? Write to submissions@asce.org.

REGION 10 NEWS
Leading university in Egypt advances toward International Student Group status

Alexandria University’s school of engineering is moving ahead with efforts to establish an official ASCE International Student Group, and is currently in a probationary period with review and possible approval later this year. As part of their activities to satisfy requirements, earlier this month the school’s construction team hosted the management director of DOKA in Egypt, Hesham El Deeb, to talk about the company’s work and projects it’s involved in as an international producer and supplier of prefabricated formwork used in concrete pouring. About 100 civil and architecture engineering students attended the event.
